This is a small sleeping creature that probably in spring (I Live in Chile, it is winter right now) starts waking up and doing things…

Right now it sleeps in the soil

Under a log or a few leaves, a couple of centimeters deep in the soil. I encounter a lot of those—5 to 10 in a shovel-load—if I’m digging on the surface.

I never saw a thing like this. Does this turn in a moth, a butterfly or what?

BTW. the dog likes to eat them.
