Just to keep everybody informed, we finally arrived in Cartagena de Indias. It looks like almost everything is the same as two years ago when we were last here.
San Blas
We spent 3 months in the San Blas. Most of the time far away of all the other sailors. We had a private island fora while. Felt good.
What do you do on such an isolated spot?
This is what a lot of people ask.
Pretty quickly a routine of the day starts to build.
Most of the time I study during the morning hours. Vivian always liked a walk around the island and did some snorkeling.
Every other day I would wake up with the smell of fresh baked bread and coffee in the morning.
Around midday, we would wonder what we were going to eat that day.
About 3 times a week, we were lucky that a few Kuna fishermen were at waving and shouting distance. If that was the case, we bought two fishes—Spanish Mackerel—good to eat.
Around 17.00 hours we would have a sunset drink. Sometimes a lemonade, sometimes a beer or a rum-mix. If there were other boaters around on the island, if we were alone, on the boat listening to some nice music, seeing the fish jump out of the water, an incidental dolphin would pass by.
As soon as the sun would be down, it was dinner time. After that reading a bit, sometimes discussing our future and the world-politics. We listened to the news, Vivian in the morning in Spanish, me in the afternoon in Dutch if the reception was all-right.
We would wonder if we would get some rain. We were lucky, we never run out of water completely.
