Trip from the Rio Dulce to Guatemala City and the view we had to enjoy.
Bus trip from the Rio Dulce to Guate City
This trip by bus takes about 5 hours. We reserved our seats some days ahead, so we got the first seats behind the driver. The costs involved are around 6 dollars per person.

We had a better view then the driver of the bus, but still the cracks in the window were annoying.

Just a week ago, there was an accident with a bus. Not this type of luxury bus, but one of the very old school-buses. It jumped of the road in a ravine, going downhill too fast. More then 40 people were killed.
A few years ago we were in Haiti. We met a judge interested in literature. Quite exceptional, as most people cannot read there. Two days later he was killed in a bus-accident together with 58 other persons.
Public transportation has a bad name in almost all the countries in Latin America. Drivers without license, buses with neglect in maintenance and sometimes a hold-up of banditos.
Still I don’t feel insecure over here. Overly optimistic maybe, but healthy for the quality of life.
