Sunny, not a cloud to be seen. And not a gust of wind.
This morning at 6.45 I was having a coffee with Frank in his house. He
showed me some ins and outs of the house and the flowers we shouldn’t
forget to give water.
At 7.00 o’clock Manfred shows up. Frank gives me the keys. Manfred is
saying he needs the keys. Franks looks strange. “You have your keys no?” He
is asking Manfred. “Yes”, Manfred is saying. “So, these keys are for Paul
and Vivian, ‘cause they are going to live here when I’m away”, is Franks reply.
I notice some uneasiness by Manfred, but decide not to react on it. Take
the keys. Wait till the two Germans are gone, lock everything and row back
to the boat to enjoy breakfast with Vivian.
Those two Germans have a special relationship. Frank rents the house from
Manfred and Manfred wants to make his ships-agent office in the garage of
the house. It is not clear to me why this office is still not operational
there. Frank cannot explain it and is also amazed.
After breakfast, we start to pack some things to move to our new house.
Sewing-machine, laundry to be washed and more stuff we for sure need in the
house. While we are making ourselves at home we get two surprise visits of
Manfred and some friends, sailors, business partners?
It is not clear what they are coming to do. The future office is a storage
room right now. They sit in our patio. Manfred doesn’t ask but walks in and
start making coffee. I start feeling a bit irritated with this Manfred. He
should realize we are living there. You don’t walk into somebodies house
without asking permission. I decide not to make a point of it, maybe
Manfred is a slow learner.
He asks if we are not interested in bringing a boat from Cartagena to St.
Maarten. He cannot be that bad, I think, if he offers me a job.
It seems that everybody wants to give us this kind of business. Could this
be the way to earn some money?
